Abigail Phelps Chapter - Simsbury, Connecticut

◊ Chapter Highlights

On Veterans Day 2004, we held a huge celebration and fund-raiser to benefit the Connecticut State Veterans Home at Rocky Hill, Connecticut. The photo shows us presenting the check to the Connecticut Commissioner of Veterans Affairs.

The photo on the home page shows chapter members on Memorial Day, after the town's parade, when the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion presented the chapter with their Citizenship and Community Service Award.

The pride and joy of the Abigail Phelps Chapter is our chapter room in Eno Memorial Hall. The hall was given to the town of Simsbury from Antoinette Eno Wood in memory of her parents Amos R. Eno and Lucy Jane Phelps. Mrs. Wood was a charter member of our chapter; she died January 11, 1930. In her will, she stated that a wing of the Memorial Hall would forever be the home of the Abigail Phelps Chapter. The furniture in the room comes from Mrs. Wood's Washington D.C. home. It was given to the chapter by Mrs. Wood's relatives. A large oil painting of Antoinette Eno Wood, commissioned by the chapter in 1932, hangs on the west wall of the chapter room.
